Who Are We?

Friends of the Community Inc. is a not for profit organisation with a vision of investing in our future by building a healthy, sustainable, vibrant and enterprising community.

Founded in 2006 by Serena Anderson and Norm Dale, Friends of the Community is not affiliated with any religion and is supportive of everyone in our community, regardless of religion, race, ethnicity or condition. Our organisation is staffed entirely by volunteers and seeks to assist those in need who are not supported by government services.

What Do We Do?

Since our inception, we have provided ongoing funding for Year 11 and 12 students to assist them in achieving their tertiary education goals; supported local children from disadvantaged backgrounds by covering their membership and uniform costs to local sports clubs and provided wheelchairs and adjustable hydra-lift beds to disabled individuals, among many other achievements.

All of these instances of support are due to the lack of funding available to aged, disabled, disadvantaged and special needs people in our community that can only be bridged by groups like Friends of the Community Inc.

How Do We Raise Funds?

Friends of the Community Inc. run a small food organisation with 100% of profits returned to our community. We are a small group of volunteers with a strong sense of community and consider ourselves one big family. We enjoy what we do and have a great time at each event we cater at, from private events to a range of community events sponsored by local government such as City of Cockburn or other community and corporate groups.

Our volunteers have all been trained in Food Safety. We take pride in the quality of food and customer service we provide from our HACCP certified custom food truck.

Friends of the Community Inc. hold a Charity License and welcomes donations and volunteers.

Improve the quality of life for all members of the community by:

providing a planned and organised method of communication and decision making

between members of the community

IMGP2801We supply a range of services to the community; we have a licensed food van where we sell a variety of fresh healthy food using only locally produced ingredients. A menu is available to view all the foods we offer. We are flexible and would not compete with other Community groups by selling similar products at the same venue.

Our brightly painted Van is ideally suited to compliment your functions such as Carols by Candle Light, Fairs, P&C Fundraisers and Concerts.

We supply all our own equipment from marquees, barbecues, bain-marie (keeping the food warm), coolers to generators if power is not available.

We can either run the Sausage sizzle ourselves or in conjunction with you on a share basis.
On a share basis we will supply and setup all the equipment and the food, you will supply the labour and we will share the profits equally,

Our members can assist in training on the day of how to produce each food item and some information on food safety as all our members have been fully trained in this area.
